I think that writing this essay was a easier at some parts and difficult at others. I really enjoyed the different stations of editing. I felt that it was helpful for me to know what I needed to do. I think that my final essay was better than other pieces of work I have written earlier in the year. I plan on following the same kind of outline and preparation for the next paper I write.
ReplyDeleteHaving fewer restrictions/guidelines on our essay was liberating and it made writing the paper easier. i liked this process.
ReplyDeleteI think that the way we did this essay may have been different form some of the others ones that we have written. But i found this one to be easier and i understood what i had to do more. I think that compared to last year i have become a better reader and righter.
ReplyDeleteHaving less restrictions for writing this essay made it easier to write about a variety of topics that you can choose, but it also made it more difficult to choose what to write about, and what pieces of literature to use. I felt like my papers quality was no different from the rest.
ReplyDeleteThis essay was challenging for me. Interpreting the different American literatures was difficult, and then having to relate them to Into the Wild made it even harder. I like the whole idea of comparing the non-fiction novel to other literatures but it wasn't easy. I felt that I could say my ideas better than writing them down in an essay.
ReplyDeleteI like how through this paper we had to tie multiple pieces of writing together, even-though they all were about different topics. Bringing three different pieces together to form our own thesis is cool. The assignment was open ended, so as the student I had to create my own thesis, instead of one that was provided for me. The initial writing assignments could be adjusted more so they could be easier to incorporate directly into the essay. Other than that the assignment was clear and helpful to future writing assignments.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed not having any guidelines, I feel as through I stayed with what I've learned in the past on how an essay should be set up with, introduction last sentence being the thesis, a few paragraphs, and the first sentence of the conclusion going back to the thesis. But it was nice to pick the topic, and be able to write "freely" about that specific topic, and relating to short stories, and poems that were given. I think this was a good beginners essay to prepare us for the research paper, which I'm extremely excited about!
ReplyDeleteI think that we should have had a bit more time to work on this because i feel like it was rushed. i also think that my first paragraph is good because i had help with it then just had to do the rest on my own and it kinda isnt very good so i think more class time or help would have been beneficial. i also think that it was harder to come up with everything on our own and think working with a partner would have also helped.
ReplyDeleteI think this essay has helped me learn how to write something that is not as structured. It was a different process because as opposed to being given a topic and outline to write about, we had do make that ourselves. This was hard because I had a hard time focusing my essay and creating my own structure. I think the final product didn't come out as well as it could have, but I think the ideas I had were more in depth and quality than if I had been given something to write about. This is because I wrote about something that I wanted to write about. It think maybe if I had more time to write it it would have been better quality. I think two days was too short of a time to write the whole paper, even though we had it pretty well mapped out.
ReplyDeleteFor me this essay has been a bit of a challenge but i think my last paper was good, it was better than what i expected.I think every essay that i do help me a lot in order to improve for the next one
ReplyDeleteI think that we could have had a little bit more time, especially in class, to work on the essay. I felt it was a bit of a surprise when the first draft was due the next class, and then the class after that the final was due. Other than that I think the essay went really well, I felt that there was a lot of help offered inside and outside of class. A little bit more time to work on it, maybe some more steps, but other than that, things went very well.
